If you connect the Chromebook directly to the printer via a USB cable and try printing that will show that the Chromebook has the ppd file. I see that the ppd is available for Linux Opens a new window. Ithink Chromebooks now use the CUPS system and you need a ppd for each type of printer to customise the different printers which should be built in to Chromebook OS. If the printer and the Chromebook are on the same local network then they should find one another and work together. I liked Cloud print a lot, my daughter could hit print while she was at school and it would be ready when she came home! This one is local print. We would really really, like to avoid paying 40$ a month just so our Chromebooks can print, any help with this would be great. From my searching on google, Google says the Chromebooks should work with the printer naturally, however they don't anymore, I don't know if there was an update to the Chromebooks, the printer or what, that caused them to no longer be able to print. However they all randomly stopped working, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. They said that if I wanted the Chromebooks to be able to connect to the printer we would have to pay for a monthly subscription to get access to Uniflow online (This would allow the computers to print to the printer)Īt the time we didn't want to pay for the monthly subscription, so we didn't do it and I found out, that we actually didn't need it as all of the Chromebooks were able to find the printer and print to it. When the printer was originally installed, they gave me drivers for both Mac, and Windows.
